Transient Stability Enhancement and Fault Current Limitation in Power Systems Including Wind Farms Using ECS

چکیده

In this paper the effect of presence of wind farms on relay coordination at fault condition and transient response at reclosing condition is studied. Wind farms as one of the important distribution generations (DGs) are so effective on overcurrent relay coordination in power systems. As well as Wind farms cause to severe oscillations on voltage, power and frequency in power system after reclosing. Energy Capacitor System (ECS) can reduce these adverse effects. In this paper fault current limitation and transient stability enhancement are done by selecting a suitable control strategy for ECS. Simulation results clearly show that the control strategy can enhance the relay coordination, transient stability of wind generators in power system as well as their low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability.
